If you clicked on this link excited to buy a lifetime supply of spearmint and be free from PCOS forever…I’m sorry to report that I was only trying to grab your attention. Unfortunately, ridiculous health claims like these are what catches the eye these days.
PCOS is not a spearmint deficiency disease.
However, spearmint does appear to have anti-androgenic effects in PCOS women. A few smart folks in Turkey studied 42 PCOS patients who were divvied up to either drink spearmint or placebo tea twice a day for 1 month. At the end of 30 days they found that free and total testosterone levels were significantly reduced. Each woman noted improvement in their degree of hirsutism.
So, no, you can’t blame your mother for not giving you enough spearmint and causing your PCOS. What you can do is sip on a few cups of spearmint tea each day as part of a healthy plan to overcome PCOS naturally.
The fifth and final item in your PCOS toolbox is proper testing. This includes a comprehensive blood chemistry as well as a salivary and adrenal workup. Chances are you have not and will not receive this testing from your conventional doc.
In my many years working with PCOS women, I can tell you that no two women are alike. You may have similar symptoms, but you are all different physiologically.
For example, some women with PCOS have high blood sugar, while others have low blood sugar. Some PCOS women have high cortisol (a stress hormone), while others have low cortisol. Some women have great digestive capabilities, while others need digestive support. And some PCOS women have an imbalanced immune system, while others do not.
There is not a one-size-fits-all protocol for PCOS women. You must be treated as individuals, with unique symptoms and therefore personalized protocols. This is why laboratory testing is a must. There is no better way to find out what program is right for you.
Getting proper testing can be an investment. Despite the fact that it is the BEST investment in your health you can make, it still keeps some women from getting it done. Leaving them no option but to stay stuck unhappy, unhealthy, with all those pcos symptoms.
I want to help.
In order to make this more affordable, I’m starting a pcos group program that includes testing at a price that you can afford. A group setting is motivational, supportive, and more conducive to keeping you on track when you otherwise want to fall off the wagon. With affordability and motivation on your side, you have nothing to lose except your symptoms.
There is one catch – you’re only allowed in if you are very committed to your health….I mean this…no dead weight allowed.
The group will start in August. Space is limited because I want everyone to get the most out of the time we spend together. And of course, current patients are welcomed to jump on this opportunity.
